Julia Rovinsky is the Music Director of The International Harp Contest in Israel, one of the world’s most prestigious harp competitions. She is the former Principal Harpist of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, a position she held for more than two decades, and the former professor of Harp at the Buchmann–Mehta School of Music at Tel-Aviv University. 

Born in St. Petersburg, Julia Rovinsky graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov Academy of Music.Since immigrating to Israel in 1991, she has become a prominent figure in the country’s musical life as well as an active artist on the international stage. She has performed widely as a soloist and chamber musician and participated in leading festivals in Europe, the United States, and Asia. Her collaborations include appearances with major orchestras and many distinguished conductors.

Julia’s artistic contribution has been recognized with numerous awards. She was a prizewinner of the National Harp Competition in Moscow, and in 2002 she received the Israeli Prime Minister’s Prize for excellence in the performance of Israeli music. The State of Israel further honored her by issuing a commemorative postage stamp bearing her portrait.

Alongside her performing career, Julia has recorded extensively for labels such as EnT-T, Meridian, DUX, and New World Records, releasing both solo and chamber music albums.

In recent years, Julia has devoted much of her creative work to developing a substantial catalogue of harp arrangements and pedagogical editions. Her publications, praised for their clarity, musical understanding, and technical insight, are performed by harpists worldwide and have appeared in major international competitions. Her editions have been published by Vanderbilt Music Company, HarpMasters Academy, and Edition Svitzer, and she has since founded her own digital publishing platform offering her works directly to a global audience.

Julia continues to combine p teaching, editing, and artistic leadership, remaining deeply committed to expanding the harp repertoire and supporting the next generation of harpists.
